The Butterfly Conservatory is an indoor tropical paradise with over 2,000 butterflies roaming freely. The 100-acre Botanical Gardens houses dozens of stunning gardens with thousands of plant species scattered amongst them. If you are here during the summer, you can take a guided horse-and-carriage tour.
Old Fort Niagara
If you have any interest in history, Old Fort Niagara is a must visit during your stay here. Built in the 17th century, it has been a base for French, American and British troops, and has been through many wars, such as the American Revolution, and the French and Indian War. It has the distinction of being North America’s largest operational fort. Being located in one of the most scenic areas of western NY, you will also be treated to some stunning natural beauty.
Inniskillin Winery
Did you know Niagara Falls is very famous for other things besides the actual falls? Well, it is—its wine. If you have any degree of appreciation for wine, or just like learning about new things, a trip to the Inniskillin Winery can make for a very nice day. Not only will you get to sample some delicious wines, you will learn all about what it takes to make fine wine. It is particularly famous for its Icewine, which is made by letting grapes freeze over the winter; the thawing process apparently creates a more intense, unique flavor.
MarineLand
Marineland is great fun for all ages, and a particularly good attraction if you have the kiddies in tow on this trip. This amazing theme park has the distinction of housing the biggest killer whale habitat in the whole wide world. You can actually touch them too if you want. It is also well-known for its sea lion and dolphin shows. The park also has a deer feeding area, and of course, being a theme park, rollercoasters and other rides.
