It’s 2 PM and you’re running on fumes. You need energy stat, but you’re watching your figure. Health-conscious as you are, you don’t want to slam a Monster or crush a Snickers; you want to gain valuable, healthy energy, preferably without attracting strange looks from your passing coworkers. We’ve all been there. Here’s a few ways you can get that much-needed shot in the arm.
1. Eat an apple
Instead of looking to our dear friend chocolate, why not turn the other way and devour a delicious apple? Chock full of fiber, vitamin C, complex carbs, one of these bad boys will keep you going until you head home for the day. Apples help to stabilize blood sugar and deliver a sweet energy boost.
2. Try some green tea
All this time you’ve been downing five cups of coffee a day, you should’ve been switching it out for green tea. Green tea offers caffeine in lower quantities than coffee, but still enough to present you with a boost in awareness. The lower caffeine content won’t interfere with your sleep schedule, and there is also evidence to suggest that the active compound in green tea, EGCG, facilitates weight loss.
3. Drink a HEALTHY energy drink
Do you stop by a local gas station during your morning commute to pick up a cup of jo or one of those energy drinks with a crazy design on the can? Skip the gas station and opt for a healthier energy drink called Vemma Verve. Vemma was a company started by Bk Boreyko and they focus on offering a healthier alternative to most popularized energy drinks, like Red Bull and Monster Energy Drink. You can pick up Vemma product online and start consuming an energy drink with less sugar, fewer calories and more vitamins.
4. Just stand up
Once an hour, you should be standing up for at least five minutes. Not only does standing up increase alertness and awareness, but it’s also good for your overall health. It increases blood flow by reducing constriction in veins, which occurs naturally during long periods of inactivity.
5. Hydrate
The most common cause of fatigue is simple dehydration. By drinking a single glass of water, you can vastly improve your state of being and, as a bonus, you’ll probably have to stand up to get it. Further prevent dehydration by avoiding alcohol at lunch and in excess the night before a working day.
6. Anybody want an almond?
Almonds contain several energy-inducing nutrients, including manganese, magnesium, vitamin E, and phosphorous. In addition to the raw nutrients they provide, the protein and fiber found in almonds helps to slow down the digestion process. This regulates the consumption of energy, giving you a steady reserve to draw from throughout the day.
