3 Tips For Maximizing Your Weight Loss Efforts

In theory, dropping those extra pounds should not be super-difficult. We just need to start eating better and exercising more right? But, that can be easier said than done. There are other elements that may impact our weight. Even the most disciplined of dieters find themselves struggling. Here are three helpful hints to aid you in this sometimes difficult and frustrating journey.

Meditation

Meditation can be extremely helpful for weight loss because it is an amazing tool for reducing stress and increasing awareness, both of which are crucial for weight loss. High stress levels will sabotage your weight loss goals at every turn. First, it causes all sorts of reactions in the body that trigger cravings for unhealthy foods rich in carbohydrates and sugar. Second, it indirectly impacts your efforts by making you more likely to eat emotionally, eat unhealthy foods, skip exercise and just generally dampen your interest in taking better care of yourself. With increased awareness, you can become more cognizant of triggers that make you more likely to make unhealthy choices. This awareness also helps you tune into your body’s hunger and satiety cues more deeply, allowing you to control your eating more successfully.

Start with a Cleanse

When the word ‘cleanse’ comes to mind, you may think of drinking crazy concoctions or forgoing all manner of solid food, but it doesn’t have to be this extreme. A cleanse can be very beneficial for ‘rebooting’ our system, and making our body more conducive to weight loss. While there are a variety of different menus, the basics typically include drinking plenty of water and herbal detox tea for weight loss, and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Some include whole grains while others recommend cutting them out. Meats, dairy, sugar and anything processed are off the table. Typically you do this for about a week.

Figure Out How Your Weight is Serving You

This may not be something you read about often when it comes to losing weight, but it might be helpful if you believe at our core we are just energy, and certain blockages in our energy field contribute to various issues, including excess weight. You see, in many ways, things we don’t like about ourselves are serving us in some way, or we would have transformed them. Many believe this is true for weight…it is protecting us in some way. For example, if someone has a really strong belief they are not good enough, the weight can serve as a shield from really facing that, and is the scapegoat for why things don’t go that person’s way, from their work to relationships. If we can blame the weight, we don’t have to face up to what is going on underneath.

When we can get at the underlying root fears and beliefs that may be contributing to our weight, you will find it much easier to lose it. The self-sabotage will diminish. You will get inspired to follow certain diets or types of exercise and you will have an awesome response to them.
