As an engineering student, the candidate has to be involved in more and some more studies. In order to learn something more apart from the theoretical knowledge, the students can enhance their knowledge by participating in technical and cultural fests organized by colleges. This article focuses on the importance of college festivals and mentions some of the popular tech and cultural fests organized in some of the top engineering colleges in India.
College life is one of the most exciting and important phases in anyone’s life. During this period, a student comes across several experiences, and learns new things. A college festival is not just for fun, it adds value to a student’s learning experience.
What is the purpose of Technical and Cultural Fest?
Reputed engineering colleges in India keep on organizing college festivals every now and then. Have you ever realized the importance of these festivals? The purpose of doing so is multiple. Firstly, it helps the academic institutions to bring together the students from across the country. Secondly, these college feasts promote innovative ideas and allow students to share their knowledge and ideas with other students. Thirdly, attending these festivals gives information on the different fields of study. Sports events, quizzes, seminars, music and dance are the part of most of the college fests.
Cultural fests are organized into all the types of colleges, while technical festivals are mainly conducted in engineering institutes or research colleges in India. Cultural programs in colleges mostly include fun activities like singing, dancing, or band performance. On the other hand, tech fests include popular events like Application Development, Robotics, Coding, Hacking, Web Designing, and Paper Presentation on different technical topics.
Popular Fests in Engineering Colleges
In today’s time, cultural and technical festivals are considered as an important part of the academic session. Some popular festivals held in different engineering colleges include:
VerTechX4.0: MVJ College of Engineering recently organized a three day annual inter-college techno-cultural program called VerTechX4.0. To become a part of the fest, more than 40 institutes were registered in 2013. The festival included several events such as Crazy Computing, GlidoWarz, RoboWarz and Chembion. The aim of the techno-cultural program is to nurture the talent of students in the different fields.
TechFest: It is the annual festival organized by IIT Bombay. It is the largest technological and science festival in Asia. The sixteenth edition of the fest was recently held from 3 January to 5 January 2013. To match up with the reputation of IIT Bombay, the three day annual event had the best to offer to all the participants. TechFest 2013 included over 150 events.
Biofest: It is the annual technical festival conducted by the biotechnology department of IIT Madras. The date for Biofest 2013 was April 13-14, 2013. The aim of the event is to promote innovation and research in the different fields of Bioengineering and Bioscience. It provides an opportunity to the engineering students, young entrepreneurs and scientist from across the country to participate in different workshops, lectures and events. Some of its events include Open Quiz, Carnival, BioBiz, GD Challenge, and Paper and Poster Presentation.
