UFC is a divisive sport, you either love it or hate it, but there can be no arguing that its popularity is continuing to grow. As any serious boxing betting fan will know, the high-octane sport follows the same weight structuring as boxing. Below are some of the current champions.
Jon “Bones” Jones – Light Heavyweight
Jones is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC and the youngest UFC champion ever. The New York native is well-known for his crushing elbow offensive as well as being a tactically astute submission expert. His record inside the Octagon is incredible with 19 wins from 20 fights; his solitary loss came via disqualification, so you can argue he has never been beaten. Jones is the current undisputed king of MMA.
Georges St-Pierre – Welterweight
The Canadian submission expert has dominated the Welterweight division for years. He currently holds the UFC record for most wins and has defended his title a record eight times. During his career he has seen off high calibre opponents such as B.J. Penn and Matt Hughes and has a fight record that stands at 24-2. As he has aged his fighting style has become more conservative, hiding behind his jab while trying to wrestle his opponent to the mat. This is exemplified by the fact St-Pierre failed to knock out his six previous opponents. The champion is 2/5 favourite with Titan Bet to win what could be his final fight against Johny Hendricks on November 17th.
Cain Velasquez – Heavyweight
Velasquez etched his name into UFC history when he knocked Brock Lesnar out back in 2010 and then lost the belt in his next bout to Junior dos Santos. Velasquez has avenged his only defeat to dos Santos by beating him twice subsequently. Velasquez is a solid puncher but his cardiovascular conditioning is his main strength, meaning he can continue fighting at a frenetic pace while his opponents tire; he is currently ranked #1 for most strikes per minute.
