Its light weight makes up for a lack of a more powerful engine and it has suburb handling. It is quick and nimble with a clutch that gives precise, fast shifts making it fun to drive.
It also handles bumps better than most competitors. The interior is attractive and driver friendly, and while it is mainly plastic, it is appropriate for its price point.
The seats are comfortable though it is only a two-seater. The trunk space is smallest in its class so you have to pack carefully. One nice feature is the retractable roof.
It has an excellent reliability rating as well. Options include leather seats, heated seats, Bluetooth, push-button start and satellite radio.
Once again the only real complaints are the smaller interior and trunk size. The engine is a 2.0 liter I4 with 21/28mpg.
2013 Subaru BRZ
The cousin of the Scion FR-S makes its way as number three on our list with the Subaru BRZ. The BRZ is the closest thing you will get to a track ready performance at an affordable price.
Critics are blown away by the BRZ’s performance and love its peppy, sporty engine. The handling is nimble and agile and overall the BRZ delivers a really fun driving performance.
The interior is stylish and comfortable with driver friendly options in place. The backseat is small or course but it does fold down for more storage space.
It has a perfect safety score but only average reliability score. As with all in this class it has a small trunk and tight back seats. The engine is a 2.0 liter, I4 with 22/10mpg.
