Make Money By Selling What You Grow

One way to make money online which many people probably haven’t thought of is to sell what you grow in your garden. This method is great if you enjoy gardening and have a bit of a green thumb. This project should only be attempted if you know what you’re doing. If you have never gardened before or are not good at it than starting now and thinking you’re going to be able to use it to make money is foolish. You will likely make too many mistakes and end up spending more money than you actually earn. You are far better to stick with something that you know.
Decide What to Grow
There are two basic steps to this method of making money online. The first is to decide what you want to grow the second is to then find a market for it. Before you begin however are a few questions you need to ask yourself are you going to plant your plants outside or are you going to have an indoor herb garden? Do you have enough space to build a greenhouse and increase your growing potential? All these things will determine the scope of your project and are important when working out how much you will ultimately be able to sell and hence how much money you can make. It’s important that you answer these questions before heavily investing in equipment and plants. The next thing to decide is whether or not you are going to start with seeds or already grown plants?
Starting from seeds will be cheaper but it will obviously take longer for your plants to be in a state where they can be sold. Starting from cuttings will cost a little bit extra but you will start making money faster. You should work out what your profits will be using both seeds and clippings and then decide which one you want to pursue. You will have to decide whether or not going with seeds is worth the extra wait time because obviously your profit margins will be larger with seeds but they will occur more infrequently.
Deciding what to grow is probably the most important decision you will make. There are two things you need to consider when making this decision. The first is can I actually grow this plant effectively and efficiently and the second is; is there a market for this plant? Remember some plants will only grow in certain climates so make sure what your growing is suited to where you live. You also need to ensure that someone out there wants to buy what you’re growing. It’s no use spending all your time and effort growing plant which no one wants to buy. Herbs and flowers for example are very popular if you can find the right market for them. Homegrown vegetables however are not in high demand because they can be bought very easily at any supermarket.
Growing plants is a great way to make money if you know you’re doing because your providing a product which people need. However remember that unlike some other online business models gardens can be affected by the weather so it may not be a smart idea to put all your eggs in one basket.
