What Are Bed Bugs
Bed bugs feed on human blood and if absolutely necessary, the blood of any pets you may have in or around your home. They are tiny little insects, and they are masters at hiding. They hide in dark cracks and crevices during daylight hours and even hide in electrical outlets and in the ceiling and walls if they are accessible. They lay eggs throughout their travels, sometimes in your carpet or on walls. They multiply quickly and can go an entire year without feeding, so starvation as a means of extermination is out of the question. They will travel in search of food by any means necessary, so if you decide to vacate your home to get rid of them, your neighbors will not be too pleased with you.

Bed bug control is absolutely necessary, as bed bugs are constantly multiplying and they are sweeping the nation. Travelers who frequent hotels continue to spread them, completely unaware. I can tell you from experience that you do not want to try to exterminate them on your own. While there are many home remedies to be found on the internet, your best bet is to hire an exterminator as quickly as possible.
Why an Exterminator and What Can They Do That I Can’t?
Exterminators know just where to look for “casings” (a shell left behind when they grow to adulthood, similar to the way a snake sheds it’s skin), and can tell rather quickly where they may be hiding in your home. There are even dogs that are trained to detect possible nests in your home. The sprays that are available to the public have to hit the bugs directly, which is impossible if you cannot find them all. We tried the sprays and bombs in our home and everything we could find on the internet and still ended up hiring a pest control service. Clothing, papers and books are all possible hiding places for the bugs and must be treated accordingly. Furniture, toys and electronic equipment are also possible hiding places. The longer you wait to hire an exterminator, the longer it will take to treat and the more costly the problem becomes.
