The new Jaguar XJ Ultimate has been labeled the most state-of-the art luxury vehicle on the market today. Unrivaled in craftsmanship, intelligence, and luxury, the 2013 Jaguar XJ Ultimate holds the title as the “pinnacle of the Jaguar range.” Although critics have pointed out that the XJ Ultimate may have too much luxury, seemingly built for a champagne-sipping workaholic who doesn’t exist, there is no denying that this car is built for showing off.
Unveiled in the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, the XJ Ultimate features a 510 PS, 5.0 V8 engine capable of reaching top speeds of 155 MPH with an acceleration of 0-60 MPH in 6 seconds. With a fuel economy of 23 MPG, the XJ Ultimate has a body made from recycled aluminum and magnesium, which makes it lighter and stronger than steel vehicles. Adaptive cruise control allows the vehicle to coast at a pre-determined speed and automatically keeps the car at a safe distance from other vehicles. Advanced safety features include advanced braking systems to ensure that the driver has full control of the vehicle in the event of an emergency situation as well as a “pedestrian contact sensing system” that raises the bonnet of the vehicle’s front-end in the event that a collision of a pedestrian takes place, ensuring that that the pedestrian doesn’t hit any of the harder surfaces of the engine.
In keeping with its luxurious title, the XJ Ultimate features a full-length panoramic sunroof that extends from the windshield to the front of the rear seating area, consisting of tinted glass and twin electric blinds for extra privacy. Bi-function HID Xenon headlamps automatically adjust to oncoming traffic and turns, providing the best lighting imaginable during the darkest of nights. The interior of the vehicle houses 20 speakers, elegantly placed to perfect the abilities of the Meridian sound system, which uses advanced acoustics to automatically adjust sounds to account for any distortions made by the cabin.
Each of the two front seats includes a touch-screen monitor in the back of the headrest, allowing rear-seated passengers to playback movies in unison or individually with the optional WhiteFire wireless headphones that come with each vehicle. The dashboard consists of an 8” dual-view touch screen that displays audio, climate, and navigational controls for the driver while allowing the front passenger to watch a movie at the same time. Bluetooth connectivity on this unit also enables Bluetooth-compatible phones to connect to the XJ Ultimate’s built-in telephone system for hands-free communication. The media hub consists of a 30 GB hard drive that can be used to store data or connect to external devices via its USB port, auxiliary jack-plug, or Bluetooth.
With the rear seating area consisting of twin bucket seats covered in elegant leather, a full partition center console features an electrically-powered table and a 75 cl bottle chiller, with two hand-crafted GoranHongell ‘Aarne’ Champagne glasses included with each vehicle. This combined with a heated steering wheel and a built-in odor filtration system makes the Jaguar XJ Ultimate the top-of-the-line in automotive wonders. The XJ Ultimate has been available since late 2012, with a price tag of $155,000, excluding taxes.
