Being a loner can really get in the way of your being able to assimilate in a new country and culture. <li>Don&#8217;t be close-minded. When it comes down to it, other countries will have very different customs. Some of these customs may be shocking and not what you are used to. Even the littlest things, like food may be completely different. However, if you want to really blend in and enjoy your study abroad program, you want to dive right in and taste every morsel. When you are studying abroad, it can be easy to stay glued to your computer screen, especially if you have friends to catch up with in your hometown.
