So you want to take the plunge, live young and free and buy yourself a sports car. That being said, you can only reasonably afford so much.
Which one is the best value for your money, after all, it’s a pretty big investment. It is important that you do your research beforehand because it can help you out in the long run.
Fortunately, we are here to help, as we have rated the top, affordable sports cars of 2013. For the record we are not including muscle cars in this list.

2013 Scion FR-S

The Scion FR-S is our top choice for the best affordable sports car.
The entrance of the FR-S to the market has definitely had an impact as critics love it.
For its size and cost it brings a surprising amount performance and value.
Its low center of gravity and excellent suspension make this one of the best-handling cars on the market.
It has a slick styling and delivers an athletic driving experience.
The interior is stylish and more driver friendly then many rivals.
As with most sports cars the back seat is small but can fold down to give more cargo space.
It also has a perfect safety score and good reliability rating. The only real complaints are the small back seat and storage. The standard engine is a 2.0 liter, I4 engine with 22/30mp.

2013 MX-5 Miata

At number two on our list is the legendary Mazda Miata. Long considered one of the best, affordable sports cars to drive, the Miata still holds its own.
Its light weight makes up for a lack of a more powerful engine and it has suburb handling. It is quick and nimble with a clutch that gives precise, fast shifts making it fun to drive.
It also handles bumps better than most competitors. The interior is attractive and driver friendly, and while it is mainly plastic, it is appropriate for its price point.
The seats are comfortable though it is only a two-seater. The trunk space is smallest in its class so you have to pack carefully. One nice feature is the retractable roof.
It has an excellent reliability rating as well. Options include leather seats, heated seats, Bluetooth, push-button start and satellite radio.
Once again the only real complaints are the smaller interior and trunk size. The engine is a 2.0 liter I4 with 21/28mpg.

2013 Subaru BRZ

The cousin of the Scion FR-S makes its way as number three on our list with the Subaru BRZ. The BRZ is the closest thing you will get to a track ready performance at an affordable price.
Critics are blown away by the BRZ’s performance and love its peppy, sporty engine. The handling is nimble and agile and overall the BRZ delivers a really fun driving performance.
The interior is stylish and comfortable with driver friendly options in place. The backseat is small or course but it does fold down for more storage space.
It has a perfect safety score but only average reliability score. As with all in this class it has a small trunk and tight back seats. The engine is a 2.0 liter, I4 with 22/10mpg.
