Take 5 to Be More Productive

We all need to take some time out during the day when you put work to one side and do something that’s not work-related.
There are plenty of different ways you can take five during the working day and while this might sound contradictory advice for a productive day, by taking regular breaks you’ll actually go back to your desk feeling refreshed and ready to concentrate on the task you have to complete.

Here we List Five ways to Take Five.

Do something Fun Online

There are so many ways to have a five minute break using your pc we couldn’t possibly list them all here. But whether you enjoy games like Candy Crush Saga or Scrabble or you prefer the kind of games that could win you a little cash, many of them can be enjoyed for short stints. Of course, playing on poker sites requires a little more time and concentration than other online games, so poker’s probably not the best option one of those five minute breaks.

Get Some Air

Go away from your desk and take yourself for a quick walk outside. It doesn’t matter if you just go to the end of the road and back, you’ll still feel refreshed for having a change of scene for a few minutes.

Get the Kettle On

Take a tea or coffee break to take time away from your desk. Don’t take the drink back to your desk – go down to reception or just walking around the building and enjoy your drink while it’s still hot!

Zone Out

If there’s a quiet place in the building take yourself to it and have five minutes with your eyes closed and do your best to empty your mind of everything. There’s usually an empty conference room or stationery cubby you can find to do this.

Take Time to Talk

We’re all so obsessed with achieving results at work that many of us can be guilty of not getting to know our colleagues at all. Make time to talk about life out of work with a couple of colleagues every now and then. You don’t have to know every detail of their lives, but showing an interest in their existence away from the office will be good for developing a strong working relationship.
Of course, you’re not going to have time to do these kind of things every day, but by making time to have a little downtime while at the office, you should find your productivity levels soar!
