<p>It doesn’t matter what kind of home you own or what kind of car you drive, just about everyone seems to struggle at some stage with storage solutions. Buying anything new means you have to find somewhere to store it and that just adds to the problems you’re having, especially when people are so reluctant to let some items go.<br />
Some things are kept for sentimental value, others are kept because we can’t bear to let them go while others – nobody really knows why we keep them, frankly, but we do. Whatever the item is, you need somewhere to keep it and it’s a common misconception that storage and significant expense go hand-in-hand. In many cases, the solution to one storage problem can resolve a number of others too. Take one of the many cheap garages available as an example, the majority of people who hear the word ‘garage’ think it’s just somewhere to keep their car…<br />
Okay, it’s natural that you’re going to want to park your car in the garage – that’s its primary purpose after all – but the majority of garages have three flat sides which are perfect for hanging items on (providing you get one that is big enough of course). Bikes, for instance, are notoriously difficult to store because they’re such an annoying shape. You always have to keep them upright, using the stand, or lent against the wall. However, if you can hang your bike on the garage wall you free up floor space and make the most of the flat surface on the wall that would otherwise remain vacant.<br />
On that note, bedrooms are usually the most cluttered in the whole house. It doesn’t matter if you have a wardrobe, chest of drawers or even shelves on the wall, you still end up with some items thrown on the floor or crammed in the bottom of the wardrobe. Not only is this untidy, but it’s unorganized and you can never find what you want when you need it most. One of the most frequently overlooked storage spaces is actually underneath the bed, a space that is either there and used the wrong way, or not currently available because of your current bed.<br />
In recent years, we’ve seen more and more beds that come with hinges at one end, allowing people to lift the mattress and make the most of the vacant space beneath the bed that was previously unavailable. This is the perfect storage space for items that are needed infrequently, but we can’t throw away – such as winter gear during the summer months, or large bulky items that can’t be stored anywhere else.<br />
