<p>Samsung launched its very first combo of Android smart phone and tablet computer, also known as <em>phablet</em>, in October 2011 and little did we know that it would revolutionize the world of gadgets. Give the name of Samsung Galaxy Note; the 5.3 inch screen has been serving well as a hub between the usual smart phones and the large sized tablets PCs.<br />
The inception of Galaxy Note was announced by Samsung in IFA 2011 which was held in Berlin. The product was presented to the public in October 2011, first releasing in Germany and soon followed by other countries. The tremendous success of this product was verified by the fact that more than two million were shipped within the first two months of its launch. Statistics show that from January 2012 to July 2012 nearly 5 million units have been sold, raising the figure to 10 million by Dec 2012.<br />
Similar to the majority of the Smartphones and tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Note is shaped like a slate. The body has a rim which is metalized and consists primarily of plastic. The screen, which makes the front panel, is made from Gorilla Glass which is now extensively used for increased protection of such products.<br />
The Samsung Galaxy Note has a camera of 8 megapixels with a flash at the back while the front camera is of 2 megapixels, which can be used mainly for video phone calls. There has been some criticism regarding the lens cover of the back camera, as it lies with the back panel making it vulnerable to scratches. But to undo this criticism the high quality of this camera is widely acknowledged and praised. This camera also has the ability to record hull HD videos at 1080p, while editing software for photos and videos is also provided.<br />
This product is either powered by a dual core 1.4 GHz processor, the ARM Cortex A9 or a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S3. The Display is a 5.29 inch HD Super AMOLED, having a 1280 x 800 resolution. It has been provided with Wi-Fi connectivity for instant internet connection. Besides this the Note is provided with two global positioning systems, the a-GPS and GLONASS.<br />
Initially the Samsung Galaxy Note was equipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread version. But since May 2012 the Note has been powered by the Android 4.0.4 version, also known as the Ice Cream Sandwich. A number of applications are pre loaded in it, including the conventional Android application for emails, web browsing and playback for media. Besides some business purpose programs such as Polaris Office, drawing application, note taking features, etc, are also included.<br />
The Galaxy Note has a stylus, which has been specifically known as the S pen. This stick helps the user to replace their fingers for touching the screen when using the Note, helping to protect the screen from nail scratches.<br />
Texts can be entered in the Samsung Galaxy Note using a number of methods, including handwriting recognition mode which makes use of the stylus, onscreen keyboard, and the Swype keyboard input methodology.<br />
