Get In Shape For Christmas

Most people do not consider the run up to Christmas as a time to watch what they are eating and drinking.  At the same time, it is exactly at this point in the year where people are expected to squeeze into their glad rags and dress up to be as glamorous as possible.  These two concepts do not go hand in hand. Some people will not worry about gaining weight in the run up to Christmas, and will address their health and fitness in January.
As winter nights get darker and darker, and the weather takes a turn for the worst, the last thing many people want to do after a hard day at work is hit the gym. However, for many reasons now is the best time to get your trainers on and get fit.
1    No one will be in the gym – fact!
No one likes an overcrowded gym. Having to queue to use equipment and using an overcrowded changing room do not make for a pleasant exercise experience. In January, the gym will be full of people trying to keep up with their New Year’s resolutions. But right now, it will be as empty as it will ever be during the year. Now is the time to take advantage of this and get into the habit of regularly attending before the masses flock in after the 1st of January.
2    Gym equipment for sale
January is the peak month for the sale of new gym memberships and also the sale of new gym equipment.  At times outside this period, which includes the summer months when people are preparing for their holidays, you should be able to find sports related goods at sale prices. This means that now is the time to pick up some bargains.
3    Release those endorphins
The winter months are known for being dreary, dank and miserable. Many people suffer during these months as the lack of daylight can cause depression and fatigue.  A brilliant way to combat this is to go to the gym and work out. If you can’t make it to the gym every day, you can try to soak up as much winter sun as possible by going for a brisk walk at the weekend.
4    Fit into your clothes for the party season
Finally – the reason why most people will undertake any kind of fitness regime in the run up to Christmas is to be able to wear exactly what they want for a big event or party.  Feeling healthy and fit is a step in the right direction to boost confidence.
