Grandes invenções inspiradas pela ficção científica
Quando o primeiro celular foi lançado muitas pessoas comentaram que o achavam parecido com os comunicadores usados nos filmes e seriados Star Trek, e é verdade. Martin Cooper, criador do primeiro telefone móvel, deu os créditos do seu trabalho ao gadget do capitão Kirk, que serviu como inspiração pra ele.
Submarino
Em 1870 Júlio Verne publicou seu livro de maior sucesso chamado 20.000 Léguas Submarinas. Junto com o livro veio a idéia de que seria maravilhoso criar algo que pudesse ir mais fundo no oceano, tanto para conhecimento quanto para curiosidade, mesmo. O submarino já havia sido criado só que não atingia uma profundidade muito grande… o livro só deu a idéia para que aperfeiçoassem algo que já existia, mas tem seu mérito.
Livros eletrônicos
O Kindle é o “leitor de livros eletrônicos” mais famoso do mundo e foi lançado só em meados de 2007, mas já existia na imaginação de Douglas Adams em 1978 durante seu programa de rádio e antes do livro Guia do Mochileiro das Galáxias – mais um motivo pra gostarmos e admirarmos o autor.
Exoesqueleto com muita força
Uma das cenas mais famosa do filme Aliens é quando Ripley salva uma garotinha usando uma “roupa” que o deixa mais forte. Esta tecnologia já existe hoje em dia e vem sendo testada pelo exército dos Estados Unidos. O que significa que a próxima guerra vai ser muito doida.
Traduções computadorizadas
O Babel Fish é um dos maiores (se não o maior) tradutores online da atualidade, e não tem este nome por coincidência. No livro O Guia do Mochileiro das Galáxias – novamente – existia um peixe que, quando colocado dentro do ouvido, traduzia instantaneamente qualquer língua para uma que o “portador do peixe no ouvido” pudesse compreender. Ganha um doce quem acertar o nome do peixe do livro.
Armas taser
As armas taser tem este nome por causa de uma antiga série de ficção científica que, em um dos episódios, mostrou um rifle elétrico usado para a caça. Quando Jack Cover desenvolveu o primeiro protótipo desta arma de choque não letal ele ainda tinha em mente o seriado e o personagem que o “apresentou” a arma na ficção, por isso deu a ela o seguinte nome: Thomas A. Swift’s Electric Rifle
Vírus de computador
Quando o primeiro vírus foi criado – acidentalmente – ele recebeu o nome de “verme” por causa do romance The Shockwave Rider, de John Brunner, onde existia um trecho que citava uma lombriga que começava a infectar computadores do mundo inteiro.

Me relembrou o Douglas Adams, reler algum dos livros dele que eu tenho hoje 
Muito legal, ja sabia que alguns dos inventos de hoje haviam sido inspirados em livros de ficção cientifica, mas creio que coisas como os robos dominarem a Terra e cada um deles organizarem os humanos em categorias e essas coisas, creio que não venha a acontecer. :3

Eu ri muito do ‘O que significa que a próxima guerra vai ser muito doida.’
Na verdade, Júlio Verne foi além do que foi relatado. Falou em ar comprimido e submarino movido a bateria. Só não falou do sonar. Incluindo formas e as reações químicas capazes de produzir tal energia.
Sem falar nas ideias que os quadrinhos do Flash Gordon trouxeram. A mini-saia foi a melhor delas
- Satélites Espaciais (idéia original) = Arthur Clarke
- Leis da Robótica (usadas sim) = Isaac Asimov
- Trajes auto-alimentados (vôo a Marte) = Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury e Frank Herbert (cada um com uma idéia)
E por aí vamos…. desde coisas simples até as grandes invenções… a internet por exemplo: que autor a escreveu primeiro?
No 20.000 Léguas Submarinas eles também utilizam um rifle de descarga elétrica.
Só que no caso se trata de um projétil letal que eletrocuta o alvo, disparado de uma arma de ar comprimido, se não me engano…
